LINK TO REPORT

The essay highlights the ongoing commodification of workers due to increased digital surveillance and monitoring and emphasises the negative impact on human and workers' rights as work and workers are increasingly data-fied.

Colclough, from a distinctly socialist standpoint, suggests that trade unions should expand their role to include collective control over workers' data through the formation of "Workers' Data Collectives."

However, achieving this requires addressing regulatory gaps and advocating for improved workers' data rights. The failure, or reluctance, to do so, could result in diminished union and worker power, leading to irreversible power imbalances in the workplace.
